Many companies using online backup also use tapes. This may seem strange but here are some key reasons why they do this:-
1. They backup the most critical data using online backup and archive less important data on tapes or other removable media
2. They use tapes as an extra backup....but can obviously suffer forgetting to do so the odd time without any consequential loss
3. As data ages it can become less important and therefore not worth premium backup. In this case companies archive old data on tapes or disks.

I am a big fan of online backup. i have played with this site some of the bigger and some of the smaller guys. i happen to like the smaller companies better as they tend to have better customer service..software wise they are all more or less the same...currently im paying here and with www.onlinebackupvault.com they each have their pros and cons..but i like obv the best so far. they also have a cool remote support tool which is neat
